Mode à Paris: Menswear AW14 - Dior Homme

The subtly smart image for young men portrayed by Dior Homme was always the icon that we had been deeply influenced by since the beginning of Hedi Slimane to now, the era of Kris Van Assche. Well, we are ambivalent over the daring attempt at blending suits with street wear this time as compared to the past where we would always be up for it.

Predominantly in black, the runway kicks off with Dior's signature sharp tailored suits that we are accustomed to. Then, we start to see fur coats which we are against. Since over here at Essential Feed, we believe that we do not need to prey on the sufferings of animals to make ourselves look chic. Right after, we're presented with causal elements such as parkas and denim jackets blending with clean cut suits, which illustrates the unbound confidence of Dior Homme. And finally, we were turned off by the sight of seeing oversized coats with roll up jeans matched with sneakers that look like nike woven shoes.

What do you think of this collection? We are in a complete dilemma. As much as we love the muguet motif and the smart matching of parkas with suits, we also find the rolled up jeans look to be an absolute failure.
