It all began:
When Adam Kimmel graduated from Architecture and Urban Design at New York University in 2001. He developed this hobby of making men's clothing for his friends. This hobby eventually became a passion that propelled him to live six months in Italy to learn the art of tailoring and pattern making during 2003. In the following year of 2004, with additional reasons of having difficulty in finding things he likes in stores, Kimmel launched his eponymous menswear label.
Design Concept:
Contemporary arts and Kimmel's native American culture such as the rural wild west or urban street vibes are often the elements that influenced his apparel designs. Along with his focus on durability and wearability, his line is constantly associated with masculine work wears that are incorporated with effortless and refined tailoring. Each year, the label would be presented with two collections; Spring Summer & Fall Winter. Jumpsuits that were inspired by the uniform of painters and mechanics, subsequently became the signature of the label due to Kimmel's constant unique and stylish presentations. Collaboration:
Kimmel's never ending creativity was extended into different collaborations over the years. Label wise, he co-branded with American heritage work-wear label, Carhartt and street-wear titan, Supreme. The collaborations had been successful that he came out with two collections with Supreme and four collections with Carhartt. Outside of the US, he also did a "Dark Surfer" t-shirt cross over with Comme des Garçons for the opening of Dover Street Market Ginza during 2012.

Hiatus for a year:
In 9th June 2012, Kimmel who is now one of the reputable American high-end menswear designer, surprised the industry with his sudden announcement of his temporary break. Below is what he said via Hypebeast:
“After ten years and eighteen collections, I have decided to take a year-long sabbatical from fashion. I intend to use this time to enrich my vision, spend time with my family, and explore a number of creative arenas that have interested me while I’m still young.
I am a designer and creator, first and foremost, I look forward to utilizing this next year to experiment and learn, and channel what I find into new concepts, designs and projects. I believe this is how designers become better stewards to their work.
I want to say thank you for their support and to all those who have been taking this journey with me, my team, my friends, partners and Carhartt which has been a particularly meaningful collaboration for me.
With no further news of him rebounding, the line remains suspended as of now. Let's hope Kimmel will return soon to stun us with his refreshing concepts.
