Cinema Feed #21: The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)

Trailer:

Known for his creative directorial style, Wes Anderson's latest work, The Grand Budapest Hotel is by far acclaimed as his most captivating piece. Based loosely on novels by Austrian writer, Stefan Zweig, Anderson put these stories together and created a simple plot about how a hotel's legendary concierge manager, Monsieur Gustave H (Starring Ralph Fiennes), sets on a journey to prove his innocence for a framed murder.

Throughout the entire film, I was totally immeresed in the intriguing adventure of Wes Anderson's vivid wonderland. With its cartoonic narration, high level of colour vibrancy, incredible make-up and acting skills of the stellar cast, every aspect of this film intertwined harmoniously. Consequently, this made the audience, or particularly me, neglect its impoverished plot development and the dark undertone.

For some reason, I thought the joyfulness and quirkiness of the film reminded me of Tim Burton's Big Fish (2004). Do catch it and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
