Music Feed #5: A Little Taste of SNOWMINE's New Album

SNOWMINE, a five-piece band based in Brooklyn will be releasing their second album, 'Dialects' on 4th February next year. During late autumn, they had decided to give us a taste of their new album by unveiling two of the tracks, 'Rome' and 'Columbus.'



Upon first hearing, both of the tracks encompass techniques that are typical of the band's fashion but in a more polished manner. Based on what the band had recently stated:

"The goal of the album was to capture a surreal ambiance that married hyper modern ambient synth tones with vintage 60's sounding cinematic orchestral motifs." 

They have achieved their goal to a certain degree as not only does the instrumentals establish a surreal atmosphere, the lyrics also add a poetic feel to the sound overall. In essence, each listen draws you deeper into this metaphysical space.

In particular, the band has done a decent job at blending the genres folk and indie pop together. The synthesised outcome has this distinctively calming effect which is great to listen to if you want to relax every once in a while.
