Music feed#2: Recently Stumbled Upon....

Formed in 2010, New Navy is a band based in Sydney, Australia. The quartet produces sounds consisting of catchy summer beats fused with chilly indie riffs. Though they may seem like a replica of British bands Two Doors Cinema Club and Foals, however they do set themselves apart by adding their own distinguishable traits in their sounds.

Their first single 'Zimbabwe' which was featured on their debut EP 'Uluwatu' back in 2011, was a promising start from the band. Although this song may initially sound like a track from Two Doors, nevertheless the band breaks away from that direction with their inclusion of percussions. Instead of blasting away with guitar riffs, the band employs addicting summer beats to establish their own twist. In some ways, the instrumentals can be associated with tropical music. Thus, they enhance the illusion of a blazing hot summer.

Their latest single 'Regular Town' released earlier this year is an indication that the band has taken their approach to the next level. The track exhibits a greater influence of tropical music with the consistent usage of percussions in the background.

If you're into Two Doors or Foals and would like to see what it's like when they go tropical, or if you're looking for something refreshing and relaxing, then go ahead and give them a try.
