Music Feed #6: Let's Begin The Year With Some Indie-Folk

Before I proceed with today's music feed, I would like to congratulate all of you as we are all onboard another new year. Hopefully everyone had a great time celebrating new years eve. Anyways enough about the new years and it's time to get back on track. For the first music feed of the year, I have decided to share with you my recent discovery within the indie-folk pool.

Matthew Hegarty and his band, Matthew and the Atlas has been expanding their popularity in the US since releasing two EPs in 2010. The five-piece English band has been building their fan-base over the years and recently, they have released a new track that is sure to captivate fans residing in the indie-folk circle.

The track titled, 'Out Of The Darkness' is immersed in layers of instrumentals consisting of contemporary elements. It serves as reinforcements to the wistful vocals, thus creating a more dramatic sound overall. These aspects help to establish an endless sense of longing.

In general, their latest track is heading towards a completely different direction from their past releases. Their past releases sits firmly in the folk genre whereas this track branches out to several different categories. Although I do enjoy this stepped-up, dramatic new sound from them, I am still leaning towards their older tracks. Check out some of their other sounds below:
