Music Feed #13: Junip with "Junip"
Following the plethora of features of José González's songs in Walter Mitty's soundtrack (under both his name, and his band Junip), I became motivated to dig for more material from his band while I'm still in the organic mood.
Formed in the early 2000s, González created the band along with childhood friends, Elias Araya and Tobias Winterkorn. The trio released only one EP, Straight Lines before González took off in his solo career. Having come back to the band in 2005 to release their second EP, Black Refuge and their first album, Fields in 2010, they returned last year to release their self-titled sophomore album.
While González's voice remains dreamy whilst giving off a tranquil, hallucinatory effect, the band's sound differs from his solo work as it has a refine touch of synth and keyboards to it. As such, the atmosphere is often defined by the synths, resulting in an uplifting mood.
Though there are only four tracks here, try and listen to their entire album especially if you're looking for something effortless when you're in for a lighter mood. That's all for today!
