Once again, it's another marvellous band from Brisbane, Australia. Millions may have a short history behind them but they were quick at building a reputation for themselves in the months following their formation.
Shortly after their establishment, the quartet were chosen to perform at the Splendour in the mid-2011 Grass Festival. Since then, they have gone on to perform at a range of other avenues including national tours with other acts such as Gold Fields and Northeast Party House.
Their debut EP Nine Lives, Six Degrees, unveiled back in June 2012, was largely influenced by old-school garage rock. Combined with the lead vocalist's Arctic Monkeys-like vocals, and their groovy guitar riffs, they seem like a spinoff of the classic Brit band blended with a twist of The Fratellis. Now if you're looking for a different blend of style instead of the usual classic rock, then Guru is worth a listen. It has a surfy, lo-fi flavour to it, thus differing from the likes of Slow Burner and Those Girls while still retaining the Arctic Monkeys vibe.
Was it enjoyable? Don't fret if you're worried that they're inactive since this EP was released a while back. They're actually working on a new album so just sit back and relax with this record and I'll keep you updated once there are more details of their new album.
