Music Feed #20: Holy Holy with "House of Cards"

Holy Holy is a collaboration project between two men living in two different cities. Timothy Carroll from Brisbane and Oscar Dawson from Melbourne formed the unit while they were living in Europe. Since then, they have returned to their native Australia and recorded their debut release Impossible Like You. After what appears to be that they've disappeared into the limelight despite their well received debut, they recently returned by unveiling their follow-up single House of Cards. Both Impossible Like You and House of Cards will be included in their upcoming debut EP, The Pacific

Their debut single Impossible Like You is a perfectly crafted piece featuring euphonic vocals sprinkled on top of the mellow guitar melodies and the constant beats in the background. It is both a warm yet explosive piece which in general, is a beyond satisfactory debut from a fresh group. Since they didn't make a comeback with a follow-up until recently, I was panicking away hoping that they did not just fade into the ashes.

Fortunately, they did return with their follow-up on top of announcing that they would be releasing an EP in March. House of Cards extends from where Impossible Like You ended with its unpredictable, soothing yet sometimes cascading changes. The duo takes it a step further to create a sound that is much more refined in addition to the existing guitar riffs and synths. One of their most alluring parts is that the duo utilises their unpredictability to the maximum. You would be tangled in a maze if you attempted to gauge the direction in which they're heading towards.

If you enjoy both of these tracks, don't forget to check out their debut EP, Pacific Air which will be out on 28th March.
