dreamy electro duo, Vök.
The pair comprises of lead singer, Margrét Rán Magnúsdóttir who also takes charge of the guitar and keyboards, and Andri Már Enoksson who tackles with the beat while playing the saxophone. The tracks they create have this magnificent soothing capability which could potentially send listeners off into a lucid state. Shortly after their formation, the duet won the Musical Experiments competition in March 2013. A few months later in the year, they released their five-tracks debut EP Tension.
Tension places a great deal of emphasis on the guitar lines and electronic beats as conspicuously demonstrated on Before. Such elements embed the duo along the lines of The XX with their close resemblance to the band's eponymous debut album, and James Blake who incorporates a generous amount of electro beats in his songs. Though I have to pin-point that the pair outwardly sparkles with their personal charms as their incorporation of the saxophone adds some spices to their sound. To put it simply, the saxophone adds to the dreamy vibes with its subtle appearance in every track. Yet, it plays a major role in the opening track, Við Vökum. The sleek saxophone break in the middle seals the package as it serves as an introduction to newcomers of the duo.
